ROBOTS IN DISGUISE

You know, I'll admit to having tried not to like this band. Silly me.

Well, I gave up.

I don't do digital music so much. I prefer the object.

So, I bought the CD, and I bought it new to make sure they get a cut.

I also earned 3 miles/dollar thanks to United Mileage Plus Mall.

I just couldn't help myself; my ass needs shakin'.

Probably should have used the money to pay a bill.

See if you get the joke:
Song title: "DJ's Got A Gun"
Subject: DJ frustration with shit patrons (understandable)
The line: "Everybody put your hands in the air and get down on the floor."

"I don't think anything is wrong with a little self indulgence!!" a CD's cost isn't going to pay HUGE bills anyhow,so i think it's worth it.
Music is a HUGE part of my life!!

Yeah. I maybe self-indulge a little more than most, but my feeling is that things like college and a shitty ex-stepmother shouldn't keep me from a few reasonable consolation items. I have the debts I do because this state of mind is worth it.

Music is hugely important to me...I still prefer to think about buying a CD, trotting up the rd to get it and having it in my collection...downloads might be great, but I prefer having the object..

Glad to meet someone who feels the same, many of my friends only download now and I'm happy do that with music I like to sample, but generally I want the real tangible thing...

Yeah. I'm a big fucking video game snob (those of you with video game blogs around here will note my decided absence from them), so I have the same tendencies with them as well. No emulation. I even try to avoid "ports", where a game is rereleased on more accessible hardware.

For me, I hunt the games down.

If I don't have the system, I hunt down the system. Then I buy the game.

Hence, partially, the theme of this blog.

But! Celebrate the medium! Revere the original context! Adore the object! Do not settle for lazy ersatz doppelganger pixels'n'bits!

*ahem*

OK. Subject for another blog. But Tracy, I feel you on the download thing. It's a useful tool but not a replacement for a worn out cassette, a beautiful vinyl foldout, an obscure minidisc, a rare import CD...
